Grigio Stellato is grey basalt shown as it really looks: a charcoal-grey field with fine mineral flecks, brushed to an even 60-grit matte for patios, floors, walls, and paths. It darkens to black in rain and returns to grey as it dries β we tell you that up front. Any size cut to order.
Price: $3.20 per sq. ft.

Every finish. Every size. Every thickness.
Brushed is our signature finish β available in any grit from a coarse 24 for maximum grip to a fine 120 for a soft, velvety sheen. We also cut sawn, honed, tumbled, split-face, and bush-hammered, in any dimension and thickness your project calls for. Tell us your specification and we cut to it.
Ships by pallet or container to any US state Β· Lead time quoted per order
Suitability varies with size, thickness, finish, and substrate. Tell us your application when you request a quote and we will confirm the right specification for it.
Bedding: full-bed sand and cement mix or a flexible adhesive appropriate to the substrate.
Joints: from 3 mm for sawn tiles; wider for split-face setts and cobbles.
Sealing: a quality impregnating sealer is recommended for limestone and shellstone; basalt and granite typically need none.
Cutting: wet saw with a diamond blade.
Installation requirements differ by stone and format β a product-specific method note is included with every quote, and our team is available for your installer’s technical questions.
Pricing improves materially with quantity: pallet rates beat per-piece pricing, and full-container rates beat both. Every quote is calculated quarry-direct, with no distributor margin in between.
Distributors, stone yards, and retailers: our Trade & Wholesale Program covers container-load pricing, recurring supply schedules, and private-label production.
Orders ship by pallet or full container to any US state, with kerbside delivery to the nearest safe access point. Lead times depend on stone, finish, and quantity, and are confirmed with your quote. Samples reach any US address within five working days.
Every crate is inspected and photographed before it leaves the yard β if anything is wrong on arrival, contact us and we will make it right.
Most projects that need grey stone need it to behave: one consistent tone, a calm surface, no gloss. Grigio Stellato is our answer. It is dense volcanic basalt in its everyday color β a mid-to-dark charcoal grey with soft tonal mottling and fine bright mineral flecks β finished with a fine 60-grit brush that leaves an even, low-sheen matte. This is the grey line of our Stellato collection, and this page shows the stone the way it will actually look on a dry day in your garden.
Dry, the surface reads charcoal grey. The tone shifts gently from piece to piece, and the small crystal flecks add quiet detail without turning the field busy. The grey is neutral to slightly cool, which is why it sits comfortably with concrete, steel, aluminum frames, timber decking, and the grey porcelain and render most modern schemes are built on. Order a sample and check it against your other materials in daylight β that five-minute test settles undertone questions better than any screen.
Here is the fact every buyer of this stone should know before ordering, not after: like all basalt, Grigio Stellato darkens dramatically with water. Rain turns the grey field a deep black; as it dries, the grey returns. Many owners like this β the paving changes with the weather. If your scheme depends on grey, follow two rules. Do not apply a color-enhancing sealer, because it locks the stone near its wet black permanently. And test it yourself: wet half your free sample at home and look at both states side by side. If you want the black state all the time, the collection has a page for that β Nero Stellato, the black line of the same stone.
For slopes, wet steps, and splash zones, use the coarse 24-grit version of this stone β its texture is made for wet ground. For facades and large flat planes, the sawn cut is the cleanest choice.
Basalt absorbs almost nothing, so maintenance is short. Sweep it. Hose it. Wash with a pH-neutral stone cleaner when it needs more. There is no sealing schedule because none is required β and for this grey line, skipping sealers is also the correct color decision. Frost is not a concern: with sound, well-drained bedding, basalt handles hard winters without damage, year after year.
Every dimension and thickness is cut to order β tiles, pavers, treads, and matching pieces β quoted in inches or millimeters, whichever your drawings use. Quarried in the Middle East, quarry-direct and hand-selected, shipped by pallet or container to any US state and worldwide. The first sample is free. Order it before anything else.
