How steep is too steep for sett paving in Antigua?

There is no single cutoff, because the answer depends on the build-up rather than on the stone itself. A bedded and bonded sett field over a rigid base handles falls that would defeat loose-laid work entirely. Once a run feels like a ramp underfoot, add a restrained edge at its lowest point and have your engineer confirm the base design before you commit to an order quantity.

They drain differently rather than automatically better. A sett field has many more joint lines, so water is guided along predictable paths instead of sheeting across a wide plane and finding the weakest edge. On a dry island where roofs and hard surfaces feed cisterns, that control matters. Grade the field deliberately, then keep jointing compounds and coatings that could taint catchment well away from it.

Deeper than you would use on a level terrace. Depth is what stops a unit creeping downhill under braking and turning, because it gives the bedding and the jointing more side area to hold. No. Freeze-thaw is a meaningless test case in Antigua and Barbuda and it should not influence your specification at all. Judge samples against those conditions and ignore any freeze-thaw claim entirely.
